RICHMOND, VA – Governor Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares today announced that the Attorney General has signed an agreement with the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) to prosecute fraudulent claims for unemployment compensation.

It’s E-Z with ID.me! Virginia Employment Commission Offers Faster and Secure Login Option for Unemployment Insurance Benefits

RICHMOND, VAMarch 7, 2024 – The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) is excited to announce a faster and easier way for customers to access unemployment benefits. VEC has partnered with ID.me, a trusted digital identity verification tool, to help claimants quickly connect to Virginia’s unemployment benefits system. Now, it’s E-Z with ID.me for customers to apply for benefits, file weekly claims and access other important documents.

Richmond-- The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) announced today the identification of approximately 4,200 unemployment insurance claims that may have been compromised. The agency has isolated this group to prevent further activity on these and any other claims, and is actively working with law enforcement officials.

VEC Warns of Fraudulent E-Mail and Phone Scam

RICHMOND – The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) is issuing this fraud alert to warn citizens of reports that individuals are being targeted across the country with scam e-mails and telephone calls seeking to gain access to their personal identifiable information (PII) for unemployment insurance.  The fake e-mails and telephone calls give the appearance of coming from the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) or the VEC and ask customers to click on links in the e-mail or to press a button to talk with a representative to answer questions on the phone.
