At the Job Fair:

• Warm-up by starting with companies you’re less interested in first, so that
when you get to the one you prefer most, you’ll be a pro.
• Smile, introduce yourself and shake hands when you first step up to
the recruiter....then use your 30-second commercial!
• Ask questions and listen to their answers – you have 2-5 minutes to
make an impression, so be concise, polite and direct.
• Respond to their questions, like:
How would you describe yourself? What are your career goals? What
are your strengths or weaknesses? What interests you about our
organization? What experience do you have?
• Make yourself look good – only talk about positive points and how you’d
be good at the job responsibilities they give you.
• After turning in an application, say thank you, it was nice to meet them,
and that you look forward to hearing from them.
• Get their name and contact information (or their business card) and ask
about a time frame for when to contact them.
• After talking with each recruiter, write notes to remember important
details and follow-up information.

After the Job Fair:
• Write thank you notes as soon as possible that address the
organizations’ hiring needs, your qualifications, and express your desire
for an interview (if you did not interview at the event).
• Be sure to fill out online applications fully and without errors.
• Call in a couple of weeks to see if they need anything else from you.
