Step-by-step instructions for Filing an Unemployment Insurance (Unemployment Benefits) Application

You indicated on the previous page that you recently separated from your work, were furloughed or your hours have been reduced. Please read the instructions below to open a new Unemployment Insurace (Unemployment Benefits) Application.

Fill out Unemployment Insurance (Unemployment Benefits) Application. This information will be used to evaluate your eligibility to receive financial assistance.

In approximately 7 to 10 days, you will receive by mail a Monetary Determination Letter and a PIN.

NOTE: A Monetary Determination Letter indicates the financial benefit for which you could possibly qualify. This letter does not guarantee that you will receive Unemployment Insurance (Unemployment Benefits). Several factors can determine your eligibility to receive financial assistance. For example, if you quit your job without good cause or do not meet the monetary qualification criteria, you may be ineligible for benefits.

Each week, call 1-800-897-5630 (preferred) or go to (recommended on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday) to fill out your weekly Continuing Claim Form for the prior week as long as you are unemployed.

NOTE: The requirement to seek employment weekly has been temporarily suspended. However, you are still required to complete the weekly Continuing Claim Form.

Additional Information

The CARES Act also provides an additional $600/week (Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation, FPUC) to supplement the state unemployment benefit through July 25. You do not need to apply separately for this supplemental benefit; it will be sent automatically if you are eligible.

Due to the high volume of applications, your benefits check could be delayed several weeks. However, you will be paid retroactively for all weeks in which you qualify since your initial claim. You must complete the Continuing Claim Form weekly even if you have not yet received payment.
