We are a medium security Virginia State Correctional Facility located in
Chatham VA, just off Highway 29, approximately 30 minutes north of Danville.
We maintain an inmate population of approximately 1,024 inmates. We focus on
preparing inmates to return to the community as productive citizens through a
variety of programs, counseling, and activities. Our Officers provide a
multitude of functions from security, recreational activities, and
transportation to appointments for the inmate population. The Department
offers promotion opportunities and continued training programs to enhance
your knowledge in the Correctional profession.

Correctional Officer starting salary of $42,000 with a 6,000 sign on bonus.
