GA-CCRi's Charlottesville Hackathon

Calling all programers and coders! Following the 30th anninversary of the their founding, GA-CCRi of Charlottesville is hosting a free
community hackathon event!

The event will take place on October 7th from 1PM - 5PM at 3Twenty3 in Downtown Charlottesville (323
SECOND ST. S.E.).

The Hackathon is used as a scouting tool to test your skills and see how you work in a group setting. This will be an afternoon event where GA-CCRi employees and community members meet together to work on a geospatial data science problem that improves the world.  We will provide some initial sample datasets/notebooks, and participants can guide their projects from there.  We will have employees available to help participants with their work and answer questions.  The event will take place on the rooftop of 3twenty3 in downtown Charlottesville
(https://www.3twenty3cville.com/) and a company "Symposium" (PARTY!) will follow.

The tentative schedule is as follows:

  • 1:00 - 1:30 Registration/Reception
  • 1:30 - 1:45 Opening Presentation → welcome, introduce problem & data
  • 1:45 - 2:00 Form groups and begin work
  • 2:00 - 4:00 Work time
  • 4:00 - 5:00 Presentations to group
  • 5:00 - Symposium!

We welcome participants of all skill levels and there is no cost to attend. We hope this will be an opportunity to learn together and to introduce our company to a broader audience.
