Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assess patient and prepares operatory and patient for procedure in a timely manner and with regard to maintaining patient flow and anticipating the needs of the provider.
  2. Performs fourhanded dentistry and preventive procedures such as dental prophylaxis, fluoride treatment, dental x-rays, dental education, screening and dental sealants as directed by the Virginia Board of Dentistry.
  3. Practices infection control procedures according to guidelines set by OSHA, Joint Commission and any other governing boards.
  4. Demonstrates a positive chair side manner and is efficient with providing a workable patient flow as directed by the lead dental assistant and ensures the office delivers quality and compassionate care to every patient and provides excellent customer service.
  5. Responsible for upholding the clinical area to the highest integrity by adhering to all government regulations and company standards
  6. Maintains confidentiality of all patients.
  7. Works well under pressure and demonstrates cooperative behavior and teamwork with supervisor, subordinates, colleagues, patients, and the community.
  8. Responsible for ensuring dental equipment is working properly and be point of contact with supply representatives and service technicians.

Required Education and Experience:

X-ray certification is required. Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. High School Diploma or equivalency is required. A minimum of two years of experience working in a dental office is preferred.
