The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) have entered into a partnership to present a series of conferences for data users. The first of these will feature topics using BLS employment and unemployment data series, including examining the long-term decline in labor force participation rates, the gig economy and how it is being measured, and the availability of data at the local level. We invite business leaders, researchers, state and local government officials, and anyone with an interest in BLS data and the labor market to participate in this event.
The initial data users conference will be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, with check-in beginning at 8:00 a.m. and sessions concluding at noon. Registrations are required in advance and can be made at: http://www.cvent.com/d/0vqmxy.
