Congress passed legislation signed into law by the President on January 2, 2013, that extends the EUC program through the end of calendar year 2013. This means that those individuals who were sent a notice stating their last payable week of EUC was the week ending December 29, 2012 may be entitled to additional benefits.
You should continue to look for work and file your weekly claims through the Internet at www.vec.virginia.gov or by calling 1-800-897-5360. If you do not receive payment within ten days of filing for the week ending January 5, you should contact the VEC customer contact center at 1-866-832-2363.
Claimants who exhausted their regular unemployment claims with the week ending December 29, 2012, will be mailed a EUC application. Please complete and return the application in the envelope provided within the requested time frame.
This legislation did not provide any additional benefits, so individuals who exhausted all of their EUC benefits on or before the week ending December 29, 2012, are not entitled to receive further payments.
